If you ever go to Thailand be sure to get a Thai massage. Until that time please come and enjoy one right here in Asheville. Thai Yoga massage is a wonderful bodywork modality. If you haven't tried Thai massage in Asheville I encourage you to do so! Thai massage can be done the traditional way on the floor or the new way on the table. Both are very relaxing and very different from the Swedish that your probably used to. Both the therapist and recipient wear light clothing like pajamas. Thai massage is created by rocking, compressing, squeezing and stretching in a smooth and flowing manner. In addition to the regular Thai techniques, I also add to the mix various other modalities like acupressure and craniosacral therapies. Think about that combination and just imagine how relaxed you'll be! Be sure to bring pjs and specify if you want Thai on the table or on the floor.

Acupressure
Unlike acupuncture, acupressure uses no needles to stimulate the body. The pressure is created by the fingers pressing certain points on the body. In Chinese literature there are fourteen channels of energy flowing through the human body. These tracks are called meridians. Along these meridians there are certain points that come closer to the skin. These acupressure points can become stagnated or blocked. When this happens the area becomes sore or sensitive. Sore spots need to be rubbed to release the pent up energy that resides within. When one or more of these points is very tender it is an indicator of malfunction/disruption within the system. The cause of the blockage is not always known but for whatever reason, it usually helps the overall function of the person to stimulate the points in question. People instinctively know I'm doing them good by pushing on their sore spots. Later they almost always feel better. It's like releasing little dams. I include acupressure with any massage if needed or requested. Acupressure adds 15-30 minutes of time to your massage. It should be noted that I offer acupressure and not acupuncture services.

| Craniosacral therapy is very healing for the mind. |
|
Craniosacral therapy is the balancing of the bones of the skull and cerebral spinal fluid in the body. By using specific touch techniques on and around the head, neck and spine I can release tension and pent up energies created by injuries, stress and other imbalances. Too far left, I'll move you right, too far front, I'll move you back. Sometimes the bones of the skull get pushed and pinched between the sutures. Craniosacral therapy can help to release those impingements. This can help the spinal fluid to move better. It can also release tension and pressure in the brain. Craniosacral therapy can also be energy work. The study of the movement of the bodies energies are so very intriguing to me. It only makes sence that we should be able to manipulate those energies by means of touch.

| Reflexology heals the feet and the whole body too! |
|
Reflexology is wonderful foot therapy! Before you go spending lots of time and money at a podiatrist's office, please consider reflexology first!
Reflexology is the stimulation of reflex points on the feet. Podiatrists' do not offer this simple and inexpensive therapy. Someone trained in this ancient art can do wonders to heal painful problems that many people would consider to be needing of a podiatrist and possibly even surgery. Asheville is a healing metropolis and reflexology is one of the best holistic modalities around! Before you go and do something extreme like surgery, consider a good reflexology session first. See a video on reflexology. I'll bet I can help you! Also, did you know that you can heal any part of the body by rubbing ones feet? It's true! The hands and ears also reflex to the whole body. Like the rest of the body I just feel for the sore or protruding spots and work them out. People just know they're being healed by the way it feels. Hurts so good! Interested in learning about reflexology? Ask me for a free chart. Be sure to check out my orthotics page. (Unlike podiatrist's plastic orthotics, my natural leather arch supports are reasonably priced at about $70!) Orthotics can really help your feet to get stronger and to relieve painful problems caused by poor support under your arches. Also, I see so many people here in Asheville running, walking and jogging. Reflexology is paramount to taking care of feet that get a lot of use and abuse. Reflexology, massage and orthotics can really help an athlete to excel in their sport. Many Asheville North Carolina athletes would benefit from a regular session of reflexology and a good pair of orthotics.

Infrared heat is a great addition to massage! Infrared creates deep, penetrating heat that helps increase circulation and healing. These bulbs emit virtually no EMF (electromagnetic frequencies) and do not emit ultra violet light that can burn your skin. I have devised a way to drop the heat down from the ceiling. People say I'm a mad scientist when they see the light setup on my ceiling. Included with any massage!
